Not a cyclist, but I do ride bikes

I haven't done any mountainbiking lately or long road rides, but I am on my bike most days, if only to pop down to the shops or commute to work.

The Nasty Evil Bike waits impatiently for my morning commute.

We don't have many bike lanes in Auckland, there is no rail in my half of the city, the buses don't have bike racks and you can't ride across the harbour bridge, but you are permitted to ride in the transit lane and get flattened by a bus. Here I am taking the midget assassin to the doctor.

Yeah, same here. I rode my own bike, instead of the Bike Friday tandem, to work on Friday, and I couldn't remember the last time I had ridden it. But I keep solo-riding the tandem around on daytime errands after I drop the kid off.

Sounds like Auckland is almost as bad as Gatlinburg for bike commuting. Almost!
You garage looks normal to me ;^)

I am thinking of abandoning the blog because weeks pass and I've got nothing interesting to show or stories to tell. Probably just the winter blues.

When the Cross-Check is finished (don't hold your breath), I'll be going on some interesting rides further afield, and summer is coming with more opportunity for leisure cycling.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to show people around my city by bike and I'm not doing a very good job at that. I really enjoy Doug's photos of his local scenery and I'll try to do more content like that this summer.

Well, you put it up and I'll definitely read it. So, you're coming out of winter right now? What is the temperature range there? It's all new to me:)

Thanks Marla.

There's always the extra motivation that if I make time for a ride it will give me something to post on the blog. That's not a bad thing when you're over 40 and need the exercise.

The temperatures down here in Auckland?
Today ranged between 9 and 16ÂșC. It very rarely drops below freezing in Auckland even in the middle of winter. I wear shorts all year round, but I might buy some slip-on leg-warmers for next winter.

I find that if I keep buying new bikes it gives me something to blog about.

I enjoy reading how you bike! "Share the road", indeed!

A friend of mine's bike trailer was hit by a car yesterday--in the school zone while he was taking the kids to school in it. The kids were fine but the driver apparently argued that it wasn't HIS fault he didn't see the trailer . . . .

Watch out for those busses!
